Our customer from Portugal plans to customize a 80V 12KWH Lifepo4 battery pack for boat.
-Voltage: 80-96V
-Amps: 250-300A
-Capacity: The overall package should provide 12k to 15kWh, but we aim to divide it into smaller, lighter batteries that can be individually h-handled and charged. Each of these swappable batteries should weigh no more than 11 kg to ensure easy handling by a single person.-Durability: All batteries must be designed to withstand sea weather conditions.
-Continuous Discharge Rate: 150 Amps
-Peak Discharge Rate: 300 Amps
-Dimension:1100x500x400mm.The space on the boat is relativelly small.
-Battery swapping system with small human interchangeble batteries. So the 12kWh should be devided in small batteries for better swapping operation.
This swapping system is for a boat that currently is used for commercial trips (6-12 trips a day, 45mins-1h each trip, 20 mins in dock) The amount of energy needed in each trip to feed the 22kW motor is about 10-12kWh and the time needed to charge the batteries is not enough to charge the batteries on board. There appears the swapping system. Each time the boat reaches the dock, the batteries are swapped by another pack fully charged. So they need to be in such way that could be handled by the boat operators.
this is a boat that is used for touristic trips carrying about 26-28 people each trips. An heavy boat that consumes a lot of energy (about 10kWh) per trip.
the customer want to implement the concept of Bswap because the amount of time the boat spend in dock is not enough to charge the batteries to complete another trip.
Also is not viable for them to increase battery size in the boat because they loose space for people and reduce income. BSwapping is a good option.
We designed a 80V208Ah 25S52P Lifepo4 battery pack,the drawing is as below:
25pcs 3.2V208Ah battery modules in series.
After discussing with our client and engineer,we found this plan is not good because there is a lot cables and connection is complicated.
Finally,the customer made a concession on the weight of a single module,we designed 80V200Ah battery pack,which is 2pcs box A +1 box B in series,box B is master.
