COREX Launches Next-Gen 472Ah Battery Cell, Setting New Industry Standards

On March 28, COREX unveiled its groundbreaking 472Ah battery cell at the 7th Energy Storage Carnival in Wuhan, China. The launch, led by Chairman Dai Deming, marks a pivotal advancement in next-generation energy storage technology, emphasizing innovation and industrial collaboration.

Chairman Dai highlighted COREX’s journey from its inception to becoming a leader in energy storage solutions. The company has consistently pushed boundaries across material R&D, manufacturing, and quality control, delivering three generations of specialized battery cells—280Ah, 306Ah, and 314Ah. The new 472Ah cell builds on this legacy, integrating advanced technologies to address rising market demands.

Developed in partnership with Huaqing Energy Storage Innovations, the 472Ah cell leverages the proven Conergy π 314Ah platform. It achieves a nominal energy of 1,510.4Wh per cell—a 50% increase over its predecessor—with an energy density of 195Wh/kg. Optional enhancements include cathode pre-lithiation (15,000-cycle lifespan) and high-temperature optimization (35°C efficiency), ensuring adaptability to global environments.

For 1500V systems, the 472Ah enables 6.28MWh in a 20-foot container, expandable to 6.9MWh. This translates to 40% higher energy output, 20% reduced land use for 100MWh projects, and over 20% lower costs. The design also supports future 2000V photovoltaic systems, with scalable upgrades to 7.06MWh per container, accelerating the shift toward high-voltage, ultra-integrated "Energy Storage 3.0."

Leveraging existing supply chains, COREX plans to begin global sample distribution by April 25, with full-scale production exceeding 80GWh by June 30. The cell’s rapid scalability and cost efficiency position it as a market-ready solution.

At the launch, COREX secured strategic agreements with six industry leaders—including Goldwind Carbon Neutral and ZhongTian Energy Storage—for immediate project integration. This unprecedented commercial endorsement underscores the 472Ah’s transformative potential.
