CATL and COSCO SHIPPING reach strategic cooperation agreement

COSCO SHIPPING and CATL Forge Green Partnership for Sustainable Shipping

On February 29, China COSCO SHIPPING Corporation Limited (COSCO SHIPPING Group) formalized a strategic partnership with CATL in Shanghai.

As per the agreement, the two entities will leverage their respective strengths to foster extensive collaboration in shipping, end-to-end supply chain management, digitalization, sustainable development, new energy applications, and overseas operations. The primary objective is to continually boost the overall competitiveness and global market positioning of both parties, striving for mutual benefit and achieving win-win outcomes.

COSCO SHIPPING Group stands as the world's largest integrated shipping service provider, boasting a network that spans over 1,500 ports across more than 160 countries and regions. The company operates a fleet exceeding 1,400 vessels. Currently, the group is steadfastly pursuing the goal of "peaking carbon emissions and achieving carbon neutrality," with a specific focus on digital intelligence and environmentally conscious development. Their efforts are geared towards establishing a globally integrated service system encompassing "shipping + ports + logistics," thereby creating a green and intelligent logistics supply chain service ecosystem on a global scale. The ultimate aim is to build a world-class innovative shipping enterprise.

With the formalization of the strategic cooperation agreement, CATL will harness its leadership in core new energy technologies. Collaborating closely with COSCO SHIPPING Group, CATL aims to seize the opportunity presented by carbon neutrality, accelerating the decarbonization of both domestic and international shipping and shipbuilding industries. Together, they aspire to spearhead the development of green shipping initiatives.
