On December 10th, EVE Energy announced that Phase I of its 60GWh Super Energy Storage Plant, along with the launch of "Mr. Big," is now operational. This facility marks a milestone as the largest single energy storage factory in the industry, while "Mr. Big" is the first mass-produced large-format battery cell exceeding 600Ah in capacity.
In 2022, when the market focused on 280Ah battery cells, EVE Energy demonstrated foresight by introducing a 560Ah battery cell. After more than a year of development, the company has further advanced the technology, unveiling the 628Ah "Mr. Big" battery cell. Officially released in December, "Mr. Big" is now in mass production.
Large-capacity battery cells offer significant benefits, such as reducing the cost and complexity of energy storage systems, increasing energy density and safety, and simplifying assembly by minimizing the number of components at the PACK stage. However, challenges like thermal management and efficiency remain.
To address these, EVE Energy collaborated with Professor Yang Hanxi from Wuhan University to develop an electrochemical collection model inspired by "low drag" designs in automotive engineering. This innovation optimizes collection medium thickness, tab placement, and terminal design, significantly reducing internal resistance and mitigating heat risks.
On the safety front, EVE Energy introduced intelligent battery cell technology, which continuously monitors critical parameters like gas levels and temperature in real time. Utilizing advanced signal processing and a robust database, the system detects anomalies early, enabling timely warnings and preventative measures. This technology ensures operational safety and sets a new benchmark for energy storage batteries.
To support the mass production of large-capacity battery cells, EVE Energy has built a world-class 60GWh Super Energy Storage Plant that integrates digital twin technology, automation, and sustainability principles. This factory incorporates over 80 advanced technologies, with automation at every stage of production, supported by 140 proprietary intellectual property rights.
The plant’s efficiency is remarkable: it produces 1.5 battery cells per second, assembles four battery packs per minute, and ships over 40 containers of 5MWh capacity daily. Located in Jingmen, the facility benefits from the region’s strong industrial ecosystem, enabling seamless integration of upstream and downstream supply chains. This setup minimizes logistics costs, enhances efficiency, and creates an industrial hub for energy storage solutions.
In terms of quality, EVE Energy adheres to exacting standards, achieving defect rates at the PPB (Parts Per Billion) level. The plant employs cutting-edge quality control measures, including AI-based tuning systems, BP neural networks, and a comprehensive image database to ensure manufacturing precision. Each product is equipped with a "data package" and a "battery passport," providing full lifecycle traceability.
As the industry’s largest single energy storage facility, with a single production line capacity exceeding 15GWh, this plant reinforces EVE Energy’s commitment to advancing energy storage technologies. The successful mass production of 600Ah+ battery cells positions the company as a pioneer in the field.
Looking ahead, EVE Energy’s innovative approach and forward-thinking strategy will play a pivotal role in accelerating the global energy transition and promoting sustainable development. By transforming bold ideas into scalable realities, EVE Energy is driving progress in energy storage and contributing to a greener future.
