Sungrow Celebrates 20 GW Milestone at Intersolar South America 2024

São Paulo, Brazil, August 29, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Sungrow, a global leader in PV inverter and energy storage solutions, unveiled its latest advancements in solar, storage, and EV charging at Intersolar South America, held from August 27-29, 2024. During the event, Sungrow celebrated a major achievement of 20 GW in cumulative contracted inverter orders across Latin America, highlighting its dedication to the region’s clean energy transition.

Driving a Sustainable Future in Latin America

With the support of favorable policies, increased investments, and cutting-edge technology, Latin America is poised to become a key player in the global shift towards clean energy. Sungrow is at the forefront of this transformation, leading the regional solar market with its impressive 20 GW of contracted inverter orders.
"Reaching the 20 GW milestone is a significant achievement that propels this dynamic market forward. We’re excited to collaborate with more partners to showcase exceptional climate leadership and play a vital role in the local renewable energy transition," said Ada Li, Vice President of Sungrow Americas.

Launching New Residential Solutions with Microinverters for Greener Living

Sungrow offers a diverse range of single-phase and three-phase PV inverters for residential use, including the RS-L and RT-P2 series, which feature integrated arc fault circuit interrupter (AFCI) technology that meets all Brazilian safety codes and standards.
The new S2000S-SA microinverter, rated at 2 kW, boasts an advanced thermal design that maintains nominal power even at temperatures up to 50 degrees Celsius. Its plug-and-play accessories streamline installation, cutting deployment times and reducing downtime. With enhanced Wi-Fi capabilities, the microinverter ensures superior communication range, while module-level monitoring allows for precise control and performance.

Expanding Commercial and Industrial Offerings in Brazil

To cater to Brazil’s three-phase 220V micro-generation solar market (≤75 kVA capacity), Sungrow introduced its latest commercial inverters: the SG12/20/25-P2-LV and SG75CX-LV series.
A highlight of this lineup is the SG75CX-LV, with a 75 kW power rating, high MPPT operating current, and compatibility with large PV modules exceeding 600W. Featuring IP66 protection and C5 anti-corrosion ratings, this inverter is built for durability in tough environments. Enhanced safety features, including AFCI and DC/AC surge protection, provide robust defense against electrical faults and power surges.

Strengthening Impact in the Utility-Scale PV Market

Sungrow has been a prominent player in Latin America's utility-scale PV market, offering flagship solutions like the 1+X Modular Inverter and 1500V string inverter. The newly launched SG250HX-20, a 250 kW inverter, includes active DC protection for improved installation safety and compatibility with all module types, with advanced DC fault detection and terminal monitoring.
As the electric vehicle (EV) market in Latin America rapidly expands, Sungrow showcased a range of EV chargers, including 180 kW and 30 kW DC chargers, along with 22 kW AC options, to meet the growing local demand.
Beyond PV and EV solutions, Sungrow also provides energy storage systems to address the variability of renewable energy. At the expo, the company introduced its latest liquid-cooled energy storage system, PowerTitan 2.0. Sungrow recently announced it will supply the region’s largest standalone energy storage project—the 200MW/880MWh BESS del Desierto project—enhancing regional energy stability and supporting decarbonization efforts.

Since entering the Latin American market in 2017, Sungrow has consistently surpassed industry standards with a robust team offering technical support, sales, and services across the continent. The company operates the largest service center for inverter and energy storage equipment in Latin America, providing prompt and professional services to meet diverse local needs. Notable projects include an 841 MW plant in Brazil, the 181.25 MW Coya PV project, and the 638 MWh Coya BESS project in Chile.
