40MWh Energy Storage Project Powers Cement Industry’s Carbon Reduction

battery energy storage system

A significant milestone was achieved as a 40MWh battery energy storage system, involving REPT BATTERO, was successfully connected to the grid in Meizhou City, Guangdong Province. This user-side factory energy storage project marks a major step forward in boosting local green energy transformation by establishing a reliable clean energy supply system.

In early August, the 20MW/40MWh DC side project, primarily contracted by Sifang Group and executed by REPT BATTERO, was seamlessly integrated into the grid. The client for this project is a large conglomerate with a core business in cement manufacturing. Located in Meizhou, a key cement production hub, the project involves the installation of an energy storage system at the client’s factory substation. This system connects to the grid via two 10kV circuits and employs multiple energy storage units in parallel, achieving an output voltage of 10kV.

Energy Storage: Driving Carbon Reduction and Structural Transformation

According to McKinsey, the cement industry contributes to 7% of global carbon emissions, with China's cement industry alone accounting for about 9% of the nation’s total emissions, making it a significant contributor to carbon emissions.

As the industry strives to meet the "dual carbon" goals, there is an urgent need to reduce carbon emissions through alternative fuels and energy efficiency improvements. The successful completion and commissioning of this project will alleviate peak power supply pressures, enhance the consumption of new energy, and reduce overall energy costs for the company.

High-Quality Products and Full-Cycle Service Ensure Energy Supply

This project features a total energy storage capacity of 20MW/40MWh, composed of six energy storage units, each consisting of two 3.35MWh prefabricated cabins connected to a 3.45MW boost inverter unit. The battery system used is a modular lithium iron phosphate system housed in prefabricated outdoor cabins that include batteries, battery management systems, liquid cooling units, fire protection, and monitoring systems.

To ensure the project’s success, REPT BATTERO provided professional technical services, dispatching senior engineers to guide equipment installation, offer pre-commissioning support, and assist with initial operations.

Achieving the dual carbon goals is essential for China’s high-quality development. REPT BATTERO aims to deliver energy transformation solutions to more enterprises, ensuring a stable and secure energy supply for users worldwide. The company remains committed to supporting a greener future through continued innovation and dedication.
